some computer cannot acquire images using PCI-1410

Solved!
Go to solution

I have a big problem in acquiring images using PCI-1410.

It was a standard camera (SONY XC-ES). The device test is OK with my computer.

I cannot get a proper image through MAX. Also, I try to use the camera file for that camera.

But, it was not working properly.

I consulted it through NI Korea and they find out PCI-1410 was working properly with different computers.

So, I try to change PC. Most of my computers cannot acquire the image although the device is OK from MAX.

However, only a few computer is working properly. (The working computers are made from SAMSUNG. The other

computers, which were not working propely, were assebled in out Lab.) (I tested almsot 6 computers for this purpose.)

The problem is that we need at least 3-4 PCI slots for our applications. The working computer (SAMSUN) has only 2 PCI-slots.

What should I do to select right computers? I cannot buy dozens of computers to test PCI-1410.

Why does this kind of problem happen?

Thanks in advance for your advice. (Email: kskwon@sch.ac.kr)

Hi

We also had many problems in the past using different PCs and the problem were coming from the motherBoard. Since that time we use only intel motherboards because we know that labview works fine with them.

This was 2 or 3 years ago, and I thought that the problem was solved since then... do you know the type of motherboards you are using ?

Yes, the working computers have used intel board. So, we bought a new PC using Intel board.

However, the PCI-1410 is not working properly either. Not all Intel board is working!

We have already bought 3 new PC for this purpose. However, no results.

I am very frustrated!

Please advise me what to do...

You need to compare what are the common features of the harware config of the PC on which the card is working, and use this to know on which PC the card may work.

What surprises me is that you said in a previous post that the card are working fine in MAX, do you confirm this point ? can you grab images in MAX ? because if so, it would mean that the card is working fine on the PC and that your problems are comming from another point.

Thanks again for your kind message.

The device test is always OK. But the problem is that I cannot acquire proper images (some part of images or not perfect images) from grab or snap using MAX.

What kind of config in PC should I check?

Thanks in advance!

I would suggest that

    • you put the system in the slowest transmission speed to see if it is related to transmission problems between the card and the camera.
    • you check that the problem is not coming from the cable (we had once a problem quite similar and it was due to the cable).
    • you check that your camera and camera file are compatible with IMAQ
