Hi on everyone. We have a project that focus on measuring fiber optics attenuation (we are going to send a variety of signals from the one side of the fiber optic and from the other side we want to measure the attenuation as well as in which point of the fiber optic is the problem (distance from the signal generator). So, in case that we “bend” the fiber optic we need to know in which distance it occurred the bending.
The present equipment that our lab has is the following:
- PXIe-1082, 8-Slot 3U PXI Express Chassis; NI PXI-5105, 8-ch, 60 MS/s Digitizer w/128 MB Onboard Memory; PXI-5412 100 MS/s, 14-Bit Arb with 8 MB; PXIe-8821, Win 7 (64-bit)
and we are thinking to buy:
1. PXI-5691 8 GHz Programmable RF Amplifier Module
2. a. PXIe-4610 & b. PXI-4022
So according to your professional experience, the equipment that we want to buy is compatible to the one that we already have; as well as, does it meet the standards of the experiment that we want to run? Please consult us regarding the equipment that you believe that we need buy in order to be compatible with the one that we have and run the experiment.

I would call NI sales if you plan on buying that kind of hardware. They should be able to get you the support you need.
