I installed the demo for MStudio 8, got a nice app working using the I/O assistant, bought the Studio and now the VisaTasks won't run, giving me this error message

Can't find custom tool NationalInstruments.MxbCodeGenerator.DotNETMxbCodeGe on this machine

Hi Scott,

A couple questions I have for you include:

1) When do you actually get this error message? Are you opening the Instrument I/O Assistant and getting this error?
2) Could please post a screenshot of the actual error?
3) What exact version of Measurement Studio are you using? You mentioned MStudio 8, and I know that the lastest evaluation version we have availlable is for 8.1.2 so please clarify on that
4) What version of Visual Studio are you using?
5) What was the installation order you followed? Did you uninstall the demo version and then just install the official version?

I was really surprised not to have the I/O assistant in the version I bought. I down loaded the evaluation version via the "Standard edition" links, I spent some time creating a useful app and now I find, that to use it I need to spend an extra 2600 CAD on top of the 650 I already spent, nowhere did it say it was a full demo.  Now I'm back to square one and the boss has cut funding.  I will have to return this product.

Hi Scott,

Okay so I think I understand what happened. The Measurement Studio evaluation software is actually the Enterprise Edition package of Measurement Studio which means it comes with all the available features.  My guess is that you purchases the Standard Edition of Measurement Studio which doesn't include the Instrument I/O Assistant. Only the Professional Edition and higher have that feature.  So when you tried to edit your mxb file you created in the eval Enterprise package, that message popped up which makes sense since you don't have the assistant installed.

Now we try to make it clear what features come with what package on the compare page. If you scroll down on that page, you will notice we indicate that you need to purchase the Professional or Enterprise edition to get that assistant.

I am sorry if it wasn't clear about which package to purchase.  If you have any suggestions on how to make it clear, please let me know so we can include that information in the product readme, manual, etc.

Little mix up, you should post some Version text in the project file form1 load for dummies like me. Too bad as well. For the work we need done the cost of the standard would have been acceptable, but for cost of the prof version we could bring in a student for a couple of days a year for 10 years so I can't justify the $$ to the boss.

Nice app mind you, I was looking forward to playing
