Softmotion migration to third-party

Hello,

I'm currently trying to migrate my projects from NI Softmotion project to a third party because you unfortunately end Softmotion development (which is a sad decision).

Kollmorgen AKD drives were natively supported by LabVIEW, do you now have an API to communicate with it like there is some like parker, etc. Can you help client (like me) to migrate to Kollmorgen or other? I was mainly using Softmotion for a tracking system using directly 'write setpoint' function. (no motion profile).

Let me know how you can help.

Thank you.

Patrick

Hey Patrick,

We feel your pain.  We may have a product that can fit your needs.  We designed the Express VI part of our GECO Motion LabVIEW driver to mimic NI SoftMotion.  You can get more information here.

We have also included the LabVIEW driver on the webpage, so feel free to download and try it out.  The programs won't run because you don't have our hardware yet, but you can evaluate if this API can suit your needs.  You can easily connect any motor drive that can take pulse input control to our GECO Motion hardware.  If your SoftMotion application was hosted on cRIO, the GECO Motion hardware is compatible with cRIO as well.
