Today I lost an NI6259 Smiley Sad

 

All analogic input don't work any more. There is a capacitor that explosed! and 3 integrated circuit completly damaged!

 

I think because of a short circuit!!

 

Haw can I protect my card please? Fusible!!!!

Hi Sadok,

 

I recommend you contact NI by phone to arrange for an RMA.

 

As far as protecting your card, the 6259 has overvoltage protection of up to +/-15V when powered off, and +/-25V when powered on.  There shouldn't really be a reason to have a voltage this high on the line however, since the card can only acquire up to +/-10V.

 

If you need additional protection for the 6259 (which it sounds like you do), you should add external circuitry such as a Zener diode (wikipedia link) to limit the voltage the card receives and help to protect it.
