Admin rights required to connect with MAX?

I have an application that retrieves data from a task in MAX.  This works fine when logged in as admin, but I do not get any values when logged in with user rights.  It does not report any error when connecting to the task but no data is returned.  What permissions are needed to get data from a task using Windows XP, CVI 8.0 and the latest MAX version.

Hello Mande,

If you are logged in as a regular user, you are probably only allowed to Read & Execute, List Folder Contents, and Read as permissions.  Try adding Modify and Write permissions to your user account.  To change your account permissions, perform the following steps:

1.  Navigate to C:\Program Files and locate the National Instruments folder.

2.  Right-click on the National Instruments Folder and select Properties.

3.  Switch to the Security tab.

4.  Select the Group Users.

5.  Under Permissions for Users, place a checkmark in the allow boxes for Modify and Write.

6.   Click the Apply button.

There is a knowledge base which discusses changing user permissions. You can read this article by navigating your web browser to the following web address:
