Hi Again,
Does anyone have any info on a legacy Analog Devices 5B style backplane?
I have both multiplexed and an non-multiplexed version.
My main question, is can the multiplexed backplane be use on a serial port?
This stuff is 80's vintage but I have alot of SC cards for them, so still usefull.
One plane we gutted was hooked to a micro that used a RS232 port, then to a PLC to measure temperature.
Is there any way to use or port these using RS232 to LabVIEW EASILY???
As always, any insight and/or experience would be helpful.

Thanks Glenn,
I know that these are not the latest and greatest and are slow, but still good hardware for signal conditioning.
Also, I know that NI used to sell these (not make them, just re-sell the Analog Devices products.

I am not sure if they are stand alone SC/DAQ or just a SC front end. Since a few of the units I have are equipped with multiplexers, I am assuming you can just use serial communication. Else, I would need some kind of DAQ card. NI does not seem to want to support this older hardware based on all the dead links I have found on the website.
??? Oh well... if I get time I will read up more and play with them.
Thanks for your input.

BC,
Do you have part # for backplane? Should be printed on PCB.
This might be what you have.
