Computer with better specs runs slower with same VI

Solved!
Go to solution

We just built new computers to run our labview acquisition program. However, the new computers are running the software much slower than the old ones. The new computers are Intel (Core i7) 2.66 GHz with 2 GB of DDR3 1333 MHz ram, whereas the old computers are Dell Dimention 9150 Pentium D 2.8 GHz processors with 1 GB 667MHz ram. Both computers are using a National Instruments PCI-6711 and 6052 for data acqusition. The decrease in speed is most apparent when acquiring data (for both saved and unsaved data). Any ideas why our newer computer would be running a program slower?

Thanks.

Jordan

As a side note, the vis use the legacy DAQ drivers. Is there something about legacy drivers that makes them incompatible with the i7?

Apparently, this is a problem with multi-threading. NI has a Multi-threading handbook in the labview bookshelf.
