DAQmx won't install

I am trying to distribute a built exe on a non development computer.

Besides the frustration of swapping the DVDs in and out 15 times to cache the correct stuff and having to hunt and guess what LV wants as additional distributions (why can't the installer decide what I need????) , I can't get DAQmx to go with the installer.

It is checked (tried different runtimes as well) to distribute for NI-DAQmx 8.8   . After installing on the non dev machine, the DAQmx is not there. Not listed in MAX under software.

Hints?  I've been at it for the last 7 hours.

Hi dbtestcon,

Just to confirm, inside Additional Installers, DAQmx is checked?  Just as a check, make sure that you follow the instructionsin the following Developer Zone articles.

Creating a DAQmx Application Installer with LabVIEW

How Can I Include Additional Installers with My LabVIEW Applications' Installer?

Does your program work when you try to run it?  If you look in Add/Remove Programs, can you see DAQmx?  You can check by check by selecting the National Instruments section then selecting Change/Remove.

It was checked.  During install, it even said it was going to install it.  I ain't that stupid.

Showed in Windows that it was installed.  MAX = no go.

If my program worked, I would not be debugging.

Tried to have windows fix the drivers with "refurbish" or whatever from the installation. No go.

Blast everything related to NI off the laptop and then reinstall again = Perfect. Smiley Wink

When all else fails, remove ALL NI software and start over.

Hi dbtestcon,

It's great that things are working!  Next time, upgrading to the latest version of DAQmx would be a good troubleshooting step before uninstalling and reinstalling NI software.  For a smaller footprint in your installer, you might check out the DAQmx 9.0.2 Configuration Run-Time or Core Run-Time.

NI-DAQmx 9.0.2 Configuration Run-Time contains all the features of the full version of NI-DAQmx 9.0.2 except for the following:

  • NI LabVIEW SignalExpress
  • Application development environment (ADE) support for LabVIEW, LabWindows/CVI, and Measurement Studio
  • NI-DAQmx documentation

NI-DAQmx 9.0.2 Core Runtime contains all the features of the full version of NI-DAQmx 9.0.2 except for the following:

  • NI LabVIEW SignalExpress
  • Application development environment (ADE) support for LabVIEW, LabWindows/CVI, and Measurement Studio
  • The DAQ Assistant
  • NI-DAQmx documentation
  • LabVIEW Real-Time support
  • Measurement & Automation Explorer (MAX)
