ESD affecting DAQ USB 6002

Hi,

I am using the USB-6002 DAQ in a system. My system connects to some of the analog and digital pins and then the DAQ is connected to the Tablet via a USB cable.

All this is fully enclosed in an ABS enclosure.

Each time we run ESD discharge test of 8kV in air near the enclosure, the DAQ freezes and only a power cycle will get it going again.

I get the error message

7220005 (append)

Code d-50405

Any idea or suggestion will be very much appreciated.

Thanks

Good morning,

What exactly does your error message say? Could you post a screenshot of it as I am unable to find it.

When does the problem occur? Is it only when a ESD is present?

Why is the DAQ next to a ESD in the first place? Can it be moved to a place where it won't be affected?

Best regards,

Geo

Good morning,

Unfortunately that the only part of the error message I could get.

The problem occurs only when ESD is present.

As part of the test of my system, it has to withstand 8kV of ESD discharge on the system enclosure and 15kV ESD air discharge. Hence the presence of the ESD.

The DAQ and my system are both enclosed in an ABS case.

Good afternoon,

There is a National Instruments support page on your error 50405.

You can find the support page here.

If you have a read through this it might point you to the correct direction.
