Thanks for the advice, however resetting the MAX Database to default with the "reset configuration data utility" as the article suggests did not help.

Here I add also some links to check the version compatibility between DAQ-mx and LabVIEW

Since you were able to acces to your USB DAQ in other machine, I have a few things that we would like to clarify with you and get you to try. I'll list these in order:
1) When you plug the USB DAQ into your computer (on either Win7 or XP Compatibility mode, does the device show up under "Other Devices" or "Data Acquisition Devices"?
When I plug the device into my machine here, it shows up briefly under "other Devices", then is detected and moves to "Data Acquisition Devices"
2) Plug your device into your computer that recognizes this device. Then go to Device Manager, right click on the USB-6366 and go to Properties. Click on the Driver tab and go to Driver Details. I've attached a screenshot of what driver file mine is looking for. See if yours is looking for the same file. If so, then go back to your computer that's not working (use Win 7, not compatibility mode) and browse to this file and make sure it's there. If it isn't, it looks like we're still having some sort of driver installation issue.
3) When you try to Update the Driver Software from Device Manager, if you click "Browse My Computer" then "Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer", what shows up there? Any drivers?
4) Using strictly Windows 7, upgrade back to DAQmx 9.3. You won't be able to use this device in LabVIEW with that driver/ OS combination, but it should at least let us detect the device in Device Manager, which needs to be our first step here before we start worrying about compatibility modes and such.
Let me know how it goes

Hi Ben,
How is the issue going?

Hi Carmen
Thanks for your replies.
The Post from 02-13-2012 02:04 AM with the link http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/websearch/E995EEEFF457E79E862577A000551147?OpenDocument
does not apply since the issue mentioned there should be fixed with versions 9.2.2. The patches refer to prior versions.
The Post from 02-13-2012 02:31 AM about LabView compatibilty doesn't apply to my issue either, i don't even have LabView installed nor do i plan to do so.
I just installed the NI-DAQmx bundle, which also ships the Measurement and Automation Explorer.
In the end the data will be read and processed in Matlab with the Data Aquisition Toolbox which i have done before and therefore know it is supposed to be working.
For your last post:
The Device is recognized as USB-6366 in the category "Data Acquisition Devices".
I can't see it appearing under "other devices" as you described it, however that is most probably a question of computer speed.
The Driver resides in C:\Windows\system32\drivers\niraptrkw.sys and is just the one that came with the NI-DAQmx bundle downloaded from NI.
"Using strictly Windows 7, upgrade back to DAQmx 9.3. You won't be able to use this device in LabVIEW with that driver/ OS combination, but it should at least let us detect the device in Device Manager, which needs to be our first step here before we start worrying about compatibility modes and such. "
--> I don't see why i should do so, i tested with 9.3 before, and it did not resolve the issue.
The driver file is installed, the device gets recognized.
Thanks for your help anyway and let me know if you have further ideas.

Ben,
There are two LED's on your USB-6366. Are either of them on?
If the device is showing up in device manager, can you look at it's properties (specifically its 'Hardware Ids' property)?
This device does have firmware which DAQmx may try to upgrade. I just want to make sure that we're not stuck somewhere in that process.

-> Yes, on the machine that doesn't work both flicker shortly when plugging in / turning on, then "Ready" stays on while "Active" is off.
On the machine which works, both are on more or less "immediately" after plugging in.
If the device is showing up in device manager, can you look at it's properties (specifically its 'Hardware Ids' property)?
--> Gonna post these tomorrow morning when i'm back at the lab.

Hi again,
I found a forum that may help you, they had also problems with DAQ and at the end the solution was:
Uninstall all NI stuff
Reboot
Delete C:\Program files\National Instruments and C:\Program files(x86)\National Instruments and C:\Programdata\National Instruments
Reboot
Go in regedit and delete all Software\National Instruments stuff
Reboot
I send you the lind to the forum also just in case it will help you:

Hi Dan
The Hardware Ids you were asking for are:
USB\VID_3923&PID_7567&REV_0001
USB\VID_3923&PID_7567
The class name is:
"Data Acquisition Devices"
Cheers
