I am using a USB-9162 (USB carrier) to conect a USB-9215A DAQ device to my PC. I have used both components for a about 14 months without issue. Now, when I connect the 9162 carrier to the PC, I receive the error "power surge on hub" which I believe indicates a short-circuit or other electrical failure within the usb carrier.
My problem is that I do not know whether the USB-9215A is still functional or not. Is there a way to test the USB-9215A without use of the 9162 usb carrier?
If the 9215A DAQ is malfunctioning and damaging the carrier then I do not want to hook up a new carrier and damage it. At the same time, I do not want to purchase another 9215A if I can get away with just buying a new carrier.
Please respond if you have any advice on how I can safely test the functionality of the USB-9215A. Thanks.
