Good afternoon, I am looking to operate my lab desktop remotely so I do not need to drive to the lab just to test my LabVIEW programs. My university only allows remote desktop use for computers on ethernet connection to the network. However, the ethernet port I have is dedicated to operating the NI Ethernet DAQs for the data acquisition system. I was wondering if there was a way to use a router or something that could allow me to plug into both uses. This will allow me to operate remotely while simultaneously keeping the data acquisition functional. I am not sure how easy it can be done if possible with a router of some sort. I would imagine that there is some IP address settings I would need to sort out, probably making the DAQ static for my computer to keep communicating with it through LabVIEW. I am not a network expert and could use some help.
Thanks!

Depending on the IT policy of your school, you might be able to use a network switch and connect three cables: to the school network, to the computer and to the Ethernet cDAQ. With this configuration, both computer and Ethernet cDAQ have access to the internet and school network.
Another way is to use a USB-to-Ethernet adapter which adds an Ethernet port to your computer.
