Installing NIDAQ 17.5.0f0 and getting “NI Ethernet Enumerator Installation has failed” error. Win7Pro SP1

I currently use cDAQ-9184 Ethernet Chassis’, cDaq-9171 and NI- 9162 USB Chassis’ coupled with NI-9219 C Series Universal Analog Input Modules. I have recently purchased a couple of cDaq-9185 Chassis’ to add to this collection.

Because the DaqMx Driver I had been using was not compatible with the new cDaq-9185, I initially updated to Version 17.1.0 (DVD received with new chassis) but experienced issues with the 9162 USB Chassis’. After reviewing the various options, I decided to convert all my PC’s (~10) to NiDAQ 17.5.0f0.

The issue I am experiencing is that when I deploy the downloaded driver (checksum confirmed), I am seeing the following error: “NI Ethernet Enumerator Installation has failed” on some installs.

If I continue the install (after the error), NiMax reports the installation has failed, but appears to operate fine, with the exception that it cannot “reach” the 9184’s or 9185’s.

All my PC’s are Windows 7 Pro SP1. And I am currently experiencing this error on both 32 and 64 bit machines. That said, there have been successful installs where this error does not occur.

In any case, I can navigate to the instruments via the webserver.

But am unable to get NiMax to "reach" the devices in a manner which would allow me to use them in “Tasks”

1. What issue would cause the “NI Ethernet Enumerator Installation has failed” event?

2. What causes NiMax to report a device as "unreachable" when it is accessible via the Web Server?

2. Is there a way to manually install this driver e.g. niede.inf?

I have repeated the install/removal cycle several times, and have run CCleaner to ‘fix” the registry, but continue to get the same result.

Any insight that might be offered would be greatly appreciated.

I looked over our history with this issue and it seems to have only occurred a few times with no good resolution:

https://forums.ni.com/t5/LabVIEW/NI-Ethernet-device-enumerator-64-bit-install-error/td-p/3069191

That user ended up reinstalling their operating system and the issue was fixed. Can you try running the installer as administrator the next time you uninstall and reinstall?

CH,

Thanks for the quick response on this. I had reviewed the earlier post you referenced (https://forums.ni.com/t5/LabVIEW/NI-Ethernet-device-enumerator-64-bit-install-error/td-p/3069191) but am unsure of how to go about reinstalling the OS on an OEM machine (I do not have install disks).

I will do as you suggest regarding running the installer as administrator, but do believe I have already done that...it's worth a try just to make sure.

Thanks

No, Installing as administrator dont work either... can this be because of not updating labview patches?

Hi wayrider,

Since this is an older post, you'll get more activity if you start a new thread. In that thread, tell us more about your system (operating system, DAQmx version you're installing, any previous DAQmx versions you had), and that will help us understand what might be going on.
