NI USB 6008 not showing up in MAX using NI-DAQ 8.7.1 and Labview 8.0

I've recently purchased a NI-USB 6008 and installed NI-DAQ 8.9.5 that came with the product. The USB-6008 can then be detected in MAX but no DAQ assistant in Labview 8.0.

I uninstalled NI-DAQ 8.9.5 and installed NI-DAQ 8.7.1 which is compatible with Labview 8.0. The DAQ assistant can now be found under the express palette but the device is no longer detected in MAX.

What can I do to have both the DAQ assistant and the device detected in MAX.

Thank you for your help.

Hello,

Can you see the 6008 in Device Manager in Windows?  Does the light on the card blink (this means that it is on and powered)?  Can you try unplugging your device and plugging it into a new USB port?  Are you directly connected to your computer or are you connecting to a USB hub?  If you are connected to a hub, try connecting directly to the computer.

Have you changed anything but the driver since you could see the card?  Can you expand your Software folder inside MAX and see all your software installed?  If all of your plus signs next to your MAX folders disappear, you may have a MAX database corruption.  To fix this you can follow the steps in the following KnowledgeBase article.

What is the Process for Removing a MAX Database Corruption?

If you can still see your software or create a simulated device, then you most likely do not have a MAX database corruption, so disregard the KnowledgeBase.

Jim Schwartz
