I have an SCXI-1000 with 1520 and 1314 hooked up to a PCI-6034E DAQ card. This setup works just fine. I recently upgraded to a PXIe chassis with a new 6356 simultaneous sampling DAQ card. When I hook up the strain module to the 6356, it never shows up in MAX. Is there anything I need to change to get the 6536 to recognize it? Are the two compatible?

Hello Bob,
Thanks for your question. This KnowledgeBase discusses using simultaneously sample DAQ cards with SCXI chassis. Since simultaneously sampled devices do not multiplex, you can only control the 1520 using this card in parallel mode. You can change this setting in the SCXI chassis configuration by clicking "Details" and then clicking on the "Cabling" tab. This should get you up and running. Please let me know if this doesn't work for you.

The problem is that my PXIe system doesn't even recognize that there's an SCXI chassis connected. The cable I'm using is an older SHC68-68EP, rather than the SHC68-68EPM. This works with a BNC-2110 -- is there any reason why it wouldn't work with the SCXI chassis?
One other thing: I had to install the PXIe chassis as an "external PC" because there was no definition for a PXIe-1073 in the drop-down list. Is this correct?

Hi Bob,
Thanks for the reply. SCXI chassis are not automatically detected in MAX the way plug-and-play DAQ devices are. To add it, follow the steps outlined on pages 12 to 14 of the SCXI Quick Start Guide. The top of page 14 describes parallel vs. multiplex mode for your SCXI system. Please let me know if you are able to add your chassis following the steps in this guide.
