Timestamping problem with 6682

I hope I'm posting this on the right board.  I'm a newbie at timestamping with LV and I'm using a PXI-6682 card to output a pulse on PFI1.  The pulse is rerouted externally with a SMB cable to PFI2, which is set up to timestamp the incoming signal with the "niSync enable time stamp trigger" command.  I then check for available timestamps in a while loop, but there are never any timestamps in the queue.  I've verified the pulse out of PFI1 on a scope, so it seems like this should be working.  What's going on?

Hi.

What you describe sounds like it should work.

What is the frequency of the signal you are generating on PFI1?

Are you setting a timeout for the timestamp VI?  If the timeout is too short for the frequency of the signal you are generating, then that could be a problem.

An easy way to verify that the hardware is fine is to use the Test Panels.  In MAX, right-click on the PXI-6682 and select Test Panel.  Set up PF1 to generate a 10Hz clock and in the timestamping tab setup PFI2 to timestamp.  You should see the timestamps scrolling by.  If that works, then the problem is probably in the VI.  If that does not work, then the problem is probably in hardware, either the SMB cable is bad or the PXI-6682 is defective (first thing to try would be a different SMB cable).

If you do determine that the problem is the VI, attach a picture of the diagram to help me understand how you are programming this.

Good luck.
