Trying to get a time stamp by using ANSI C

Hello,

We are currently writing code that collects acceleration data. We are using the standard ANSI C library and not using any Labview.

Is there anyway to ask the card for a time stamp the second it starts collecting because our time stamps are +40 miliseconds delayed.
