Unable to create Virtual DAQmx Device in MAX4.1 with Daqmx8.3

Oddly enough, I had this same problem in MAX after installing v8.3.0f3 for Windows XP on a new machine. My old machine was running 8.3.0f0 with no problems. This included even trying to view Tasks from a USB device defined under DAQ-mx including the new simulated device issue.

Tried repairing both DAQ-mx & MAX with the November CDs. No luck. While searching, I saw that DAQ-mx 8.3.1 was released, and removing the older and upgrading to this version solved my issues with the
modalVI2.cpp dialog box.

Hope that helps someone.

Hi Nabil,

What version of DAQmx are you using? Did you just install DAQmx/MAX and immediately got this error after first installing the SW? Does the error persist even after restarting MAX and LabVIEW and restarting your computer?

There are a couple things worth trying. The first is to reset MAX configuration data. If you have MAX 5.0 you do this by going to Tools >> Reset Configuration Data. Also, try repairing NI-DAQmx from Programs and Features in the Control Panel and restart your computer after the repair. If this does not work, also try repairing LabVIEW.

Hopefully this helps,

Great! Thanks Nabil and sorry for any inconvenience this caused. It looks like there may have been a corruption during the installation of MAX.

Glad to hear this worked though!
