What are the appropriate drivers to use with a USB-4350, running with LV 5.1 on xp?

Hi,

I've seen a related post which says NI-DAQ 6.9.3 is compatible with both LV 5.1 and XP, and I think that the USB-4350 instrument drivers should work with NI-DAQ 6.9.3.  When I try to install the hardware, though, I get the error: "Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware.  The driver may be corrupted or missing (Code 39)."  I've tried this with v2.1 and v2.5 of the 435x drivers, and get the same message.  Is there another version of the instrument drivers that I should use?  I've also thought there may be a problem with the NI-488.2 or other drivers.  I have NI-488.2 v 2.5 installed currently. Additionally, the device originally came with "Logger Soft Front Panel" software, which I didn't install.  I wouldn't think this is necessary, but I want to cover all my bases.

Thanks.

Hello mcr27,

The problem is that the version of LabVIEW you have is too old for the drivers the card and operating system require.  The oldest version of the NI-435x 2.1 driver requires LabVIEW 6.1 or later so you can't use that API.  The NI-4350 requires NI-DAQ 7.4.4 for Windows XP, but LabVIEW 5.1 requires an older version, NI-DAQ 6.9.3, according to this KnowlegeBase: NI-DAQ & LabVIEW Version Compatibility (for Windows).

In order to get this setup working you can either use NI-DAQ 6.9.3 on a Windows 95 computer, or you can upgrade LabVIEW and use the latest NI-435X drivers.  If you'd like to contact National Instruments about upgrading LabVIEW the contact information is located here:  www.ni.com/contact

I hope this helps explain the driver, hardware, and operating system compatibility issue you're running into.  Have a great day!

Cheers,

Brooks
