what do i need to mesure strain 9237

Hello all,

I am using 4 quarter bridge Strain Gages type I to measure bending strain on a pipe.

I have been looking at the NI USB 9237 (https://www.ni.com/en-us/shop/model/ni-9237.html) to use along with the 9945 accesory and the rj50 cable. Is this all the hardware i need to read and record strain? Or will i need to also get a chasis to record which in that case i have been looking at the 9172 c.

Thanks for any help,

Jonsport1004

Hello Jonsport1004,

Thank you for posting to the NI Forums!

You are definately on the right track with the 9237, 9945, and RJ50 cable. You will need some kind of interface between the module and the computer. This can either be the cDAQ chassis (9172) that you mentioned of the C Series USB Single Module Carrier

If you are intending to use multiple modules together, than the chassis is definatlely the way to go because you can use up to eight modules within the same carrier.

If you are just wanting to use the 9237 by itself, than I would recommend the USB Single Module Carrier.

Let me know if you have any further questions! Have a great day!

Jonsport1004,

I suggest you look at the example finder inside LabVIEW.  If you go to Help>>Find Examples...  you can then narrow your search to just the usb devices by in the lower left adding the device then checking "Limit results to hardware."  You will probably then want to choose a Example under Hardware Input and Output>>DAQmx>>Analog Measurements>>Strain
