Remove pad from one side of a through hole component

Hi,

I am wanting to remove a pad from the top side of a through hole component. I am wanting to do this to give more room for a copper area to pass through the component:

As the image shows above I can remove the top pad but the copper area still acts as though it is there negating the whole point of removing it. Is there a way to do what I am trying to achieve?

Hi,

If you switch on the celearances view (VIEW --> CLEARANCES)

You should be able to see what prevents the area from filling

Other wis cover it up with a small copper area and dont use the 'voiding' mark.
