Measurements Live is very slow

I have been trying to use Measurements Live with Elvis III but the oscilloscope and data logger are very slow to load. The oscilloscope takes about 19 seconds to load any changes to the signal even at 16 KS/s. I have tried the following trouble shooting steps so far:

1. Measure internet connection bandwidth: Bandwidth is 20 Mbps in the network to which Elvis III is connected. Bandwidth is 94 Mbps in the network to which the student laptop is connected.

2. Try from a different laptop: Trying from a different laptop which is located in a different network shows similar issues.

3. Try to connect to Elvis III through measurements live using the local network: There is no apparent delay and the operation is smooth.

4. Updates: Firmware and Elvis III toolkit are both up-to-date.

5. Restarting the Elvis III & restarting the laptops: No effect.

All the other instruments are working relatively fine with a delay of 2-3 seconds for update. The instruments that display waveforms are very slow and almost unusable.

  • Is anyone else facing this issue? Is anyone able to use the oscilloscope without apparent delays? Is yes, what is the difference between the setup I have described and yours?
  • How to narrow down the cause of this issue?
  • Is this delay caused by the websocket server (signalling server) hosted by NI?
  • Is the data communication happening peer-to-peer or is it flowing through NI's server?

Any help in troubleshooting this issue would be appreciated. Thank you.

Hi,

Don't be worry, you are not alone.

I myself found that the delay significantly depends on the location (internet speed),

i.e. at hotel: quite slow

at office: slow

at home: very slow

on mobile data: super slow

I am using MeasurementLive with USB connection and the oscilloscope trace is extremely slow. I have tried everything I can imagine, including different computers, but it is still very slow. I am using Windows 10 and Firefox 95.0 (64 bits).

Any suggestion is appreciated.
