We have a mixture of end users of our equipment - some using PXI but some wanting to stick with PCI.
So far we have able to handle this with the standard RIO family as both formats are available.
Are there any plans to offer a PCI version of the FlexRIO?
If so, will the PCI version still handle the same Adapter Modules?

Hello Dial,
Ideally, current and future FlexRIO FPGA modules would benefit from having universally compatible adapter modules. Because of the diversity of chassis layout for PCI computers, a FlexRIO for PCI may not fit in all chassis. The card edge connector on the FlexRIO requires a good amount of PXI front panel space to accommodate the 66 differential pairs of GPIO lines, power, and handshaking signals. Fitting a current FlexRIO connector in a PCI slot would be quite difficult and probably not be universal to all PCI slots. In addition, PXI provides instrumentation class power, cooling, and bandwidth that the FlexRIO can take advantage of.
The FlexRIO development team here at NI is always looking for feedback from customers on product ideas and improvements. Moving forward we like to know what our customers are looking for in the future of FlexRIO. Let me know if you have any questions.
