Adding Digital instrument { 6570 } in TSM PinMap

We are using Teststand / TSM version 2014 and planning to use Digital Pattern instrument for the same. We are working on developing production test solution on NI PXIe system for one of our customer.

We are creating pin map and trying to add Digital Pattern Instrument { 6570 } and we don’t see option in it { see below snapshot }, but we are able to view our 6570 in Digital Pattern.

Can you please let us know how we can add Digital Pattern instrument in TSM PinMap and also please do send us some e.g Programs using same.

  1. We would like to have e.g programs for executing digital pattern { we are using .NET }
  2. Also e,g for Digital source and capture in .NET

This will be of great help.

TSM2014 is way too old, I would recommend upgrading to the latest (at least TSM 2019 or better TSM 2020).

Digital Pattern support was added starting TSM 2016 and hence not available under 2014.

Since you're new to Test Program development, I would recommend taking up these courses,

https://www.ni.com/en-us/shop/services/education-services/customer-education-courses/test-program-de...

https://www.ni.com/en-us/shop/services/education-services/customer-education-courses/test-code-modul...

Based on all your queries, you're pretty new to TSM and you have a long way to learn, taking up these courses will help you understand the various components and plan better.

Edit:

If you cannot upgrade to the latest TSM version and have to stay with TSM 2014, the only option would be to add the 6570 as a custom instrument and handle all the necessary actions inside your code modules.

Thanks.

Will taking STS course helps us as we will not be using STS software rather we will be using TSM and .NET, please let us know so we can check with our management on taking course. Also can we get some e.g code using 6570 in .NET and also digital patterns as well ??

Somehow your recent reply disappeared.

Yes, taking up the course will be helpful because that is the only course that covers the TSM concepts.

NI Digital driver comes with a bunch of examples for .NET, you can find the examples under "Users\Public\Documents\National Instruments\NI-Digital\Examples\DotNET<x.x>"

Probably you'll get some kind of discount, please reach out through the NI Partner contact.

I would even recommend taking up full-fledged hands-on STS training for development with .NET (please note that STS specific stuff is only a fraction of the course content and it is essentially developing using TSM)
