xml file show up as blank page in browser

Hi,

All the xml files generated by TestStand 2017 are displayed as a blank page in browser. The OS is Windows 10 Pro. I tried Internet Explorer, Microsoft Edge, Chrome, Firefox, none of them works. I also downloaded TS Report Viewer Utility, it also shows up as a blank page. It used to be working a month ago. Any suggestions/solutions?

Can you see any content in the XML File using a standard Text-editor (like Notepad++)?

Is the stylesheet  available to which the XML files refer to?

I can see the contents when open it with notepad++. See one of the file attached here.

When I open the file, without having a stylesheet available (your xml is referring to TS2017 which I don't have installed), the browser shows a lot of unfromatted text (If you wann try yourself, just change the link to the stylesheet in the first line to a non existent location).

If I link to the 2019 version of the stylesheet, I see the same behaviour you described: a blank page is being shown.

Not being an XML/ATML expert, I suspect, the content of your report can not be interpreted using the style sheet, so there must be some kind of modification somewhere...

Has the machine, you are working on been re-installed lately? Any changes to report generation / model which have noch been documented / checked in?

Does the report generation work as expected when creating a new test-sequence?

Hi,

The report is not an ATML report format rather it is an XML report format.

Note: ATML report format is an XML report file but the XML generated for ATML report format is different from the XML generated for the XML report format.

You should be able to view the stylesheet using the stylesheet - C:\Program Files (x86)\National Instruments\TestStand 2017\Components\Models\TestStandModels\StyleSheets\horizontal.xsl

Hope this helps.

Anand,

the ATML report is shown as a blank page when applying the stylesheet.

ATML report is of XML file format but the contents is different from the XML report. You cannot use the XML report stylesheet with ATML reports.

The stylesheet you use has to match the contents of the XML file for it to work. There are different stylesheets for each report format (XML or ATML).

Hi Anand,

Agreed, the sample provided by the original author did refer to an ATML schema.

Since the original author of the post hasn't given any feedback since, I guess, there is no use in following up on this thread.

BTW: is there a validation tool for ATML Files / schemas like there are several for xml files / schemas?

Cheers

Oli

Thanks for all the replies. The system works well before a power outage on the facility. After that, couple issues with the use of the TestStand started showing up. We fixed the other issues, but can not get this figured out. It is using TR5_horizontal.xsl stylesheet. Any idea is welcome and appreciated.
