Once you have completed the LabVIEW RIO Evaluation Kit Tutorial, challenge yourself to include the following tasks:
Challenge 1: Press the middle push button (PB3) to start logging data until it is pushed again. This incorporates Exercise 2, 3, and potentially 4. Data could be logged locally on the kit (c:), a USB storage device (u:), or sent to the Windows PC for logging. Additionally, write text to the LCD screen that notifies the user logging is taking place.
Challenge 2: Bring the 'Max Temp' Control up to the Windows UI (Exercises 3 & 4), so the user can set the threshold for when the Temperature Warning will be triggered.
One recommended solution and a couple user-submitted solutions built during the Build Your Own Embedded System Workshop (BYOES) are included below. The Evaluation Kit tutorial exercises are nearly identical to the BYOES workshop, just lacking one communication path where the user can control the LCD screen Display State from the Windows UI.
