Synchronizing PXIe 4481 with PXIe 6683H on PXIe1071 chassis

Hello,

I have a PXIe 4481 module and a PXIe 6683H.

I have the module 6683H connected to the GPS. The question I have is, how could I connect the 10 MHz signal of the 6683H to the chassis to synchronize the 4481. In the 6683H manual it mentions that it is not possible to "route".

In the link:

https://forums.ni.com/t5/PXI/Access-to-PXI-6682H-TCXO-10-MHz-oscillator-signal/m-p/3660087?profile.l...

They mention at the end about using another "module".

Any tutorial or help regarding these modules would help.

Thanks for your help!

Hey there,

I don't know if you have found an answer yet, but check out these resources:

To route triggers or clocks you may want to use the NI-Sync VI.

Page 14 describes the programming flow and can help you in getting a theoretical understanding.

http://www.ni.com/pdf/manuals/370926f.pdf

I know you referenced this, but did you see the last link on the forum you linked. It had a section on synchronizing the PXI_Clk10 to the GPS Time Reference:

http://www.ni.com/tutorial/53314/en/#toc4

Finally, this documentation has a lot of helpful information on the PXI platform and synchronization:

http://www.ni.com/product-documentation/11369/en/

Let me know if you still need any help and I would be happy to respond.

Hi JesseG

Thanks for the info. The problem I have is that I cannot synchronize my PXI system. This is because the PXI PXIe1071 model does not allow the 10M signal to be exported to the chassis and does not have an external input to connect the 10M signal, as it does with other PXI models.

At the moment I am trying to use the PFI outputs of the PXI-6683H module and routing them to the trigger bus.

Regards.
