pxi-8513 bus off can't communicate

I'm using a PXI-1042Q chassis with the controller PXI-8360.  In the chassis I have a PXI-8513/2 that I'm trying to use.  It doesn't seem to output any data.  When I ran a loopback test,  no data was transmitted.  The power led is green and the other led is solid red.  The manual says that means,"Firmware is running, and controller transitioned to bus off."  Why is the bus turned off?  I've just installed the card a couple of days ago.  I've downloaded all the latest drivers and that did seem to help.  I'm using Labview 2010 with Windows 7 OS.  I have the following installed: MAX 5.1, PXI Platform Services 3.0.1, VISA 5.1.2, DAQ 9.5.1 and XNET 1.5.

Hi nn1,

In the loopback test.vi that you are running, do you have automatic check enabled?  Additionally, what type of cable are you using to connect the two ports on this card?

Fixed it.  The cable was a custom cable.  When I was rechecking the cable I found that the COM pin was shorted to CAN+ pin.  When we fixed that the card was working just fine.

Thanks,

Nick

Hey Nick,

I'm glad to hear it.  Good luck with getting everything up and running in the future!
