A client of mine, whom I helped in the past with various non-NI Real-Time systems, wishes to resurect an sbRIO-9636—that has not been used in ages—for a pilot project. He uses a Labview 2019 SP1 licence that his business still owns with all the relevant software, but when he tries to connect to the hardware with NI MAX, he gets this:
Has anyone encountered such issues? NI MAX works well otherwise, and the software on the hardware is reported correctly. I tried to work out what is the issue but I couldn't. Any help would be much appreciated.

I must admit, this is a new one for me.
NI MAX is not compatible with Windows scaling technology, which is why everything looks tiny on high resolution monitors. I would start by checking the graphics settings. If the monitor is set for a high resolution, select a low resolution with 100% scaling and see if that helps. My next step would be to see what fonts are being used.
To pre-empt any 'why doesn't NI fix the scaling issues?' comments, the Hardware Configuration Utility will eventually replace NI MAX. If you have a later version of NII MAX installed, you already have the HWCU. Version 2024Q1 has support for real time targets. Please note, the HWCU is still being developed and there are gaps in the features.

Thanks for that! The Host OS is Windows 10 22H2, resolution is Full HD (1980 x 1080) and the scaling is at 100%. It is simply a matter of display, as the text in the window can be copied and pasted in a text editor, and it's all there. Strange!

It seems that more child windows are displaying the same font issues:
Even a mixed picture emerges upon further investigation:
Anyone else encountered this issue?

I used Spy++ to look at the NI MAX windows and it seems that NI MAX embeds Internet Explorer for some of its functionality, and with Internet Explorer being blocked in Windows 10 since 2022, I think, may that have something to do with this behaviour, I wonder?

The problem thickens, it's not just NI MAX, VI Package manager has the same issue:
Any ideas?

I need to confirm this, but as I recall, NI MAX and NIPM use a Chromium based web browser to display certain information. This leads me to think the fonts for the browser are not setup correctly, or something (e.g. security software) may be blocking data being displayed correctly.
You may want to open a service request with NI. That will enable a TSE to work with you on a potential solution and escalate as needed.
