i am using position encoder of resolution 5.44mm/pulse, i want to count the number of pulses generated by it using cRIO 9073 and NI 9401
for my positon encoder(attached file) there are three pins
one is connected to +5v and other ground
the other pin(i.e middle) gives the pulse
i checked it in oscilloscope it is able to diplay the pulses when the motor is rotating now i want to count the number of pulses
using 9401 ,i used scan mode and enabled 9401 in counter mode
please tell me how to proceed further for counting no of pulses given by encoder and
also tell me is the one pin which gives the pulses is sufficient to connect it to counter
pin or do i need to connect common pin of NI9401 to ground of
