Dear LabVIEW Friends,
The Swiss LabVIEW User Group was founded three months ago.
In the meantime, NI Connect took place in Austin/Tx and we organised a LinkedIn info channel and this forum on the NI website.
The two keynotes at NI Connect were reminiscent of earlier times. NI is back to the technology charm that everyone loves so much: "Engineering is the art of organising and directing people and controlling the forces and materials of nature for the benefit of humanity" - Henry G-Scott.
Here are the most important points that tie in with the presentations at the User Group:
- In the opening keynote and subsequent interview, NI President Ritu Favre confirmed what Luca Pretto had already said at our User Group Meeting: "We (NI) are the LabVIEW company!".
- This signal makes us sit up and take notice: NI will declare some core elements of LabVIEW as "open source".
- The second keynote showed, among other things, further insights into the digital programming assistant "Nigel", which Sascha Egger has already presented to us.
- The non-expiring LabVIEW licence (Perpedual) is back! Interested parties can contact NI directly and ask for a quote.
- NI is once again focussing more on the academic sector: LabVIEW Community Edition is free for students again.
- LabVIEW 2024 Q3 saves projects/VI's in older binary versions up to LabVIEW 2017. That makes a lot of things easier!
- Elijah Kerry, a well-known NI Guider and innovator, has a new role and has become Community Director. This emphasises the importance of the global LabVIEW community.
Use the following channels of the Swiss LabVIEW User Group:
- LinkedIN: All information and activities of our group can be found on our LinkedIn channel. Become a member!
- FORUM: Eli Kerry has created an exchange forum for us on NI.COM.
You can register here.
One more thing... "save the date!"
The next Swiss LabVIEW User Group Meeting will take place on
Thursday, March 20th 2025 again in Baden, Switzerland.
See you around... LabVIEW rocks!
Best regards
