Looking back at the Founding Event of the Swiss LabVIEW User Group on March 21th 2024

Founded and organised by NI partners PI Electronics and Schmid Elektronik

Thursday 21.03.2024, in Baden, Switzerland

Dear LabVIEW friends,

With 110 participants, the first Swiss LabVIEW User Group Event on 21.3.24 in Baden was a huge success!

The relaxed and electrifying startup feeling was enormous. LabVIEW is fascinating!

A simple Swiss user group idea turned into an event with 110 participants, 20 speakers, 6 tracks , 20 presentations and 7 LabVIEW training sessions and 2 workshops for team & leadership.

The Swiss LabVIEW community has been waiting a long time for such an event. It showed three special features:

  1. NI remains strategically independent in the new constellation under EMERSO and actively drives R&D forward.
  2. The community spirit is reminiscent of the early days of NIDays, when the presentations were similarly "nerdy".
  3. We as LabVIEW users are willing to increase our knowledge by sharing it.

Daniel Roth opened the event with the words: "Grüezi mitenand! We have deliberately put marketing on the back burner today. This day is intended to be a day of collegial exchange." This was followed by a short round of pitches from the supporters.

In his keynote speech,Marco Schmid gave an introduction to the building blocks of knowledge graphs and large language models and how we can combine the two. Thanks to information as a new dimension, we can tame complexity in our everyday lives and master the flood of data.

Luca Pretto explained to the community the significance of the acquisition of NI by EMERSON and the new strategy. Sascha Egger provided an understanding of the technical innovations and gave an outlook on how generative AI can be used for LabVIEW.

Here are a few comments from participants the day after:

"Thank you very much for the super day yesterday. It was exciting, informative and entertaining!" - "There was a lot of food for thought and I was able to broaden my horizons" - "It was a fantastic event and a lot of fun!" - "Yesterday I was able to take part in the Swiss LabVIEW User Group Event. It was a great day for me. The event was very well organised and the speakers gave great presentations. I would like to thank you very much for this great event and hope that there will be more."

This success motivates us to further develop the Swiss LabVIEW User Group. Join the "Swiss LabVIEW User Group" on LinkedIn and follow Schmid Elektronik and PI Electronics. We look forward to your feedback directly in the Linked-In post for the event.

We would like to thank all the speakers, the moderators, the exhibitors, the catering, ABB, as well as our supporters NI, dataTec AG, Helbling Technik and Sotronik for their help. You all made this event possible!
