Importing NI LinuxRT System Images to a SystemLink Feed
Use case: I need to use SystemLink to deploy NI LinuxRT System Images to my NI LinuxRT systems (e.g. cRIO, sbRIO, PXI RT). However, my NI LinuxRT systems do not have internet access, so they cannot access and install NI LinuxRT System Images that are hosted on ni.com.
Solution: By adding NI LinuxRT system images to a feed in the SystemLink Package Repository, you can host these system images on the SystemLink Server. Your NI LinuxRT systems will no longer have to connect to ni.com to install NI LinuxRT system images because you can deploy the system image from the feed in the SystemLink Package Repository.
Option 1: SystemLink Server has internet connection
- Go to the SystemLink Package Repository.
- Create or go to the feed that you want to contain the NI LinuxRT system images. Make sure that you set the feed's Platform to NI Linux Real-Time (not Windows).
- Click the Packages > Add button. Click the Import Packages from Remote Feeds button.
- Copy-paste the following URL and click Next:
https://download.ni.com/ni-linux-rt/feeds/dist/
- Select all the packages and click Import to complete the import.
- Now if you add this feed to an NI LinuxRT system (e.g. cRIO, sbRIO), you will be able to go to Software > System Images and install a LinuxRT System Image onto the system.
Option 2: SystemLink Server does not have internet connection
- In a web browser, go to https://download.ni.com/ni-linux-rt/feeds/dist/
- Download all the .ipk files to a local folder on your computer.
- Go to the SystemLink Package Repository.
- Create or go to the feed that you want to contain the NI LinuxRT system images. Make sure that you set the feed's Platform to NI Linux Real-Time (not Windows).
- Click the Packages > Add button. Click the Upload Packages button. Select all the .ipk packages that you downloaded to your local folder.
- Now if you add this feed to an NI LinuxRT system (e.g. cRIO, sbRIO), you will be able to go to Software > System Images and install a LinuxRT System Image onto the system.
