Did you mean:

USRP not detected by Laptop

Hello everyone,

I have a NI USRP 2954 and when i am trying to connect it with my Laptop, with a working Ethernet cable,in the "network connections" window i notice that the Ethernet connection status stands at: "Network cable unplugged".

Can someone help me sort this issue?

In case further information is required, my Laptop is an ASUS product(64 bit) and the OS is windows 10.

Thanks a lot.

Hi Arutron,

Did you install NI-USRP driver?

If you want to use NI USRP 2954 with the ethernet connection, you should use a static IP address on the ethernet port of your Laptop.

Refer to the following link:

Thanks

Hello Chan82,

Thanks for your reply. But before i look into the link you gave me, i have further few points that i would like you to note:

                           1. Can the USRP devices, particularly NI 2954 be detected by a laptop whose OS is windows 10, in the first place? Or do you NEED a Linux OS for sure?

                           2.  Does installing the NI-USRP driver require the LabVIEW software to be installed first? I already have the UHD from ettus installed already.

                           3. I want you to know that there are multiple Ethernet icons in my network connections. When i had first connected my USRP, one particular icon was toggling between "enabled" and "network cable unplugged".  After looking up the internet, i was able to stabilize the status to "network cable unplugged". However this status HAS to be converted to "enabled" how do i do that?.

                          4. I have indeed provided a static IP address(192.168.10.1), matching the default IP address of the USRP(192.168.10.2). What about the default gateway and the DNS server entries? Is something missing in what i am doing?

Please do reply to all the points.

Thanks a lot,

Hi ARUTRON,

1. Yes - NI-USRP -> Supported OS

2. Yes - Note: Install programming environments such as NI LabVIEW or Microsoft Visual Studio® before installing this product.

3,4 - Can you check first the functionality of USRP itself? Is it up and running? Did you configure it first via MXI Express Interface Kit? Is USRP visible in NI-USRP Configuration Utility? Just follow initial steps in Getting Started Guide.

Also - what type of Ethernet cable you are using? (as you mentioned "Working Ethernet cable"). As your USRP has SFP+ input terminals. In case of SFP+ - RJ45 adapter, this could be also potential cause.

Hope this helps.

Regards,

Patrik
