Digilent ADP5250

I just got a newsletter email from Digilent (an NI company) about their new Analog Discovery Pro ADP5250 and I couldn't help but think it looked familiar.  NI, do you have something to tell us?

Hi from the Digilent team at NI!  Good eye!  The new ADP5250 is an adaptation of Virtual Bench for the large and rapidly growing Digilent Analog Discovery user base. It's setup for the same Waveforms app software that supports our entry level Analog Discovery 2 (the de facto standard portable/pocket multi-instrument on university campuses around the world) and the ADP3250/3450 high-resolution MSO introduced earlier this year, giving customers a path from a low-cost pocket device to a rugged, high-performance device without having the learn a new user interface.

The VirtualBench works without any modification with WaveForms - great.

Seriously?  Oh, I have some experimenting to do now...

Finally got around to trying it out.  Updated Digilent WaveForms to 3.17 and my VB-8012 shows up as a ADP5250.  I guess now I just need to figure out how to get Waveforms to work with LabVIEW and it may be usable post LabVIEW 2019 (since NI appears to refuse to update the VirtualBench drivers).

If your VirtualBench program starts automatical after powerup the Virtual device, close the program in your windows.  Starts now Waveforms and you see that VB-8012 is selectable.

What firmware do you have on the VB8012?

When I start the VirtualBench program:

And this is the Waveforms info

The VirtualBench is connected with a USB-cable.

Excellent! Thank you, @bbck! While 3.18.1 is no long available, the 3.18.x line of releases works for my VB8012 up to 3.18.30 and breaks on the next release, 3.18.36, available here:

https://forum.digilent.com/topic/8908-waveforms-beta-download/

tl;dr: use 3.18.30 for the VB8012.

Cheers,

Joe
