Presentation:
Allen Smith, CLA, is the author of the Actor Framework course taught by NI. He will be in Seattle teaching the Actor Framework course and has accepted the invitation to address the SLUGs group while he is in town. This should be a great presentation!
Abstract: Test-Driven Development in Actor-Oriented Systems
Test-Driven Development (TDD) can deliver significant efficiencies in the design and delivery of high-concurrency, message-driven systems. Specifying the messaging API of a component in unit tests clarifies the intent of the component for developers. Building out that API speeds development by giving the team a shell to populate. Writing clear, simple tests enforces decoupling between components, which makes them easier to deploy and maintain. And, of course, an existing body of unit tests makes regression testing a trivial exercise. In this session, the author will demonstrate methods and patterns to simply and efficiently develop unit tests for actor systems in LabVIEW.
If you'd like to attend the Actor Framework Class being taught by Allen, National Instruments is offering a 20% discount (makes the class around $1500). Contact Justin Cooper for details,
