Hi Kyle
Thank you for your valuable support. It matters a lot. We were really frustrated with this, and could not find much online resources that could help us to atleast isolate the issue.
Now, my application is in relation to biomedical measurements and we are looking for different ways of UI with myRIO. Remote front panel seemed to be a good option to start with and that was when we started facing this problem. Now, this problem does not happen with WiFi, but ideally we would like to explore both options and are slightly inclined to the wired connection due to reliability and increase in speed. Plus wifi option being not available in myRIO 1950 or NI SOM, it will be difficult if we want to change the platform. (We are also looking into wireless connectivity via USB dongle, to make it more generic.) We are seeing this issue with all the tablets that we have and with Win8 and Win8.1 OS. We might be using it with more than a tablet in the future.
I can connect the myRIO wired/wirelessly to my PC and deploy the code. The problem starts when I connect the tablet via USB cable to display the UI, the remote panel suddenly stops responding or closes by its own, even when the application is running.
Regards
Arya

Hey Arya,
I unfortunately do not have any good news. We tried our newer USBLAN driver and we are still seeing issues with Windows 8.1 sst and due to the OS we are unable to debug the driver with our typical tools.
If you prefer the wired connection we've had pretty good success with USB to ethernet adapters for the myRIO and if the tablet as a ethernet port of its own or using another adapter. We can't say usb to ethernet adapter are supported because they typically don't meet the operating specifications of our products.
The other option is to use wireless. I know you said you prefer the speed of the usb connection but do you know how much throughput you need for your connection?
Unfortunately it looks like our USBLAN driver isn't supported on windows 8.1 sst at the moment but we do have a bug report filed to have a developer look into it. This could take some time to work out as its a new os with a subset of OS features so it may take longer to support this version of the OS. Full windows 8.1 is supported. If you work with a host that uses the non-sst version of windows 8.1 then the usblan driver will function as intended. Here is the bug report number 511649 for you to track the status. We document our customer facing bugs through known issues lists or bug fix lists.

Hi Kyle
We would like to send roughly around 200kB of data every 10ms or so, to display it as a graph, we are still working on the code as well. I am able to use WiFi, but the main issue is that it is not available in other platforms as mentioned before.
Regarding the driver issue, I doubt if it is a Windows 8.1 SST issue. As already mentioned, to verify this, we installed Windows 8 (32 bit, PC version) directly on to a dell tablet, only to see the same issue. But your previous post mentions that it successfully worked on a Win8.1 32 bit PC (Could you recheck this?). Sadly we do not have any spare PC on which we could install win 32 bit.

Hi Kyle
Has this issue been solved? I had tracked this for a while by contacting NI support directly, but I would suggest that it would help us a lot if the customers could check the status directly.

Hey Arya,
I messaged the developer to find out more on the bug report. I'll let you know when I hear back.

Hey Arya,
Would you feel confortable trying out these options?
We still feel its a windows power management setting but I can't find alot of windows documenation describing the differences.
I found the above posts off this thread.

Hey Kyle
We had already tried these options (had gone through the exact same document) out before doing a custom win 8 installation on the tablet, again to find the same issue. I dont think its the usb3 issue. As I had told, this works perfectly fine with all the usb ports on my 64 bit win8.1 PC.

Hey Arya,
Sorry it had been a while and I didn't remember seeing those. We are having a dev look at it. Would it be problematic to update to a later version of the compactRIO driver that installs a fix?
How soon are you looking to ship out systems?

Hi Kyle
Updating the driver should not be a problem, but we have to finish this within say around 6 - 8 weeks, that is a maximum of 2 months.

Arya,
Can you try running this batch script on one of your tablets. This will disable connected standby available on these tablets. This may have the affect of the system using more power since it is not permitted into this state. You may be able to offset some of this by using the power states in windows.
You can download the batch file from ftp://ftp.ni.com/outgoing and download disableConnectedStandby.zip. Unzip the folder and run the batch file inside.
