Can't talk to canbus via OBD port

Hello all,

I'm sure this is a bit of a newbie question, but I'm having issues accessing the CANBUS on vehicles.  I have tried it on a Ford Focus, and a Peugeot 307.

I have the NI PCMCIA-CAN/LS2 Series 2, connected to the OBD2 port on the vehicles via the NI CAN cable and NI OBD2 connector.

I then open MAX, select the device and open the bus monitor...and nothing happens (it does pass the self test though).  I've tried all the baud settings, and still nothing.  I've then tried the example program in Labview, and get the 'no response from ECU' error message.

Any ideas as to what I'm doing wrong as I'm stumped!

Thanks!

Most invehicle networks are using CAN HighSpeed. As you are using a LS (LowSpeed) donglem this might be a reason.

Can you verify that the network you are connecting to is Highspeed or Lowspeed, and which baudrate is used.

This would be a good starting point.

I have the low speed version of the card, but am trying to access the low speed canbus.  According to the manuals, both are accessible through the OBD port.  I also have the softing HS CAN interface, have connected that using the same cable, and it shows the HS data ok.  It is accessing the LS data that I'm having issues with!
