Readers Digest version.

It is a CScan rendered in 3-space using the Time of Flight to plot the depth.

More detials, probably get something wrong.

Hit material with a pulse of energy and wait for reflections. Biggest returned signals are reflections of SOMETHING, maybe a crack void etc. Since the probes are being tracked as they move acrorss the surface and know the speed of sound in steel, I can corelate the peak refletions with their location. So that 3D image shows the magnitude of the reflection (red is max) and where that reflection was found. In the image above, the "flaw" was a couple of holes drilled into the test wheel to make sure or stuff could find the flaws.

Another way of looking at it, it is 3-D sonar.

Take care,

Ben

With only two days left until we in Pittsburgh host to Bill's team. There has been very litle trash talking (which is fine with me, I don't know enough about sport to talk trash Smiley Wink ) But rather than let the occation pass unnoticed I want to take this oppertunity to congratulate The Ravens for a great season and earning the oopertunity to visis us here in the "Burg".

Listening to my knowlegable buddies talk, it is supposed to be a good game.

I pray that nobody gets hurt and the best team wins!

Of cousre we...

Ben, Ben, Ben,

Corrupting such a young child like that.Smiley Tongue

I'm avoiding trash talking too.  It would only come back to bite me if the Ravens lose.  I'll save it for when we win.

Congratulations to Ben's team to for putting together such a tough season.  If it was only for a few plays or games, this game would be in Balto rather than Pitt, and I'd be at it .

1.  If we could've only beaten Cincy in week 2 in what was our worst game of the year.  Event then, we almost came from behind to beat them.

2.  If Flacco, only looked up and saw Polamalu getting ready to blitz, instead of rushing that play with 10 seconds left on play clock, maybe no sack, no fumble, no Pitt TD, hopefully we hold off for a few more minutes.

3.  If only the refs in Miami weren't blind and actually saw that Ben fumbled into the endzone and recovered by Miami for a touchback instead of admitting the fumble, not knowing who recovered, and giving Ben the ball back at the 1.

4.  If only the Buffalo receiver held onto the ball in the endzone when he was wide open in the game where they almost beat Pitt.

....

Did I ever tell you about the rule I made for discussing Football for our bull-pen? It is simple. When talking about the quarterback for Pittsburgh, you must erfer to him by BOTH his first and last name OR only his last name.

Imagine trying to get anything done when you cna hear people going "Ben su#$s!" "Ben is an As3hole"...

Yes, even this year I have to reinforce that rule.

Take care,

You have no idea the type of internal turmoil you create with an obvious comedic goldmine such as that post.  My conscience is small and fleeting so I refuse to be held responsible for any posts which may follow.  With the auto-save drafts just a click away, and so darned hard to remove, it may be hard to resist the itch.....  The only saving grace so far is that there are so many responses I was waffling over which direction to take.

Before it's too late......

Smiley Very Happy

Are you allowed to call him "Big Ben"?

You know, I wasn't even thinking the Ben - Ben connection when I was typing.
