LabVIEW on TV

On the US cable channel Science Channel HD there is a program entitled "Sci Fi Science: Physics of the Impossible (Aliens Attack)" where they were showing the US  National High Magnetic Field Laboratory, with LabVIEW visible on the control screens, and possibly our own LabVIEW Champion "Dr. Scott Hannahs" in one of the scenes. That particular portion of the episode was discussing force fields as shown in science fiction movies and what it takes to produce the strongest magnetic fields currently (pun intended) on Earth. Only brief views of LabVIEW, but once again our "not a real programming language" is being used in some pretty cutting edge work.

Ok, another LabVIEW sighting, this time on the National Geographic Channel episode "Secrets of the Lost Gold" about 28 minutes in, when they are doing spectroscopy on garnets used in Saxon jewelry.

You can often catch a glimce of a LabVIEW front panel on MythBusters as well. I know I always pay attention to the screens on the computers when I watch stuff like that.

My son spots LabVIEW on Mythbusters also from time to time.

O.T.- Why do they always put tape over the brand logos on their laptops on Mythbusters?

Because there are legal issues if they don't. Generally a company has to pay to have its logo/name appear in a TV show or movie. In addition, the paying advertisers of the show might not appreciate if a competitor gets free advertisement by simply showing up in the background.

You'll also notice that T-shirts are sometimes blurred out, as well as rental truck logos, etc., for the very reasons mentioned above. Shows get paid for product placements, don't want to give it away for free, and as mentioned above, wouldn't want an advertiser or supporter to see their competitor's logo shown.

Yes Ray, LabVIEW is a programming "environment", but "G" isn't as well known a name. I guess it would be like saying, can you hand me a box of Kleenex, when all you wanted was the tissue. (Notice, I used the required capitalization for the trademarks! 😉 )

A public serve question brought you by your "Why do they" Commitee.

Why do  they remove the rearview mirror ? Only a shot from behind the driver would reveal the camera but almost all car scenes are lacking a rearview.

We now return you to your regularly scheduled program.

Same reason space suit visors in the movies have lights shining in the actors faces, so you can see the high priced "talent"

Yeah... I often notice that, which is kinda stupid..

I am surprised when I do see a rear-view mirror.  I silently congratulate the director for accuracy.

Commercials are so full of blatant lies nowdays...  I keep wondering if humanity is really becoming so stupid..

Not all humanity, just 80%

Oh Boy!!!!  Did I just summon alpha???
