The workaround from hell

After reading this post and the link to a NI document I had to do a double-take.

Let's see what the official "workaround" entails:

  1. In each event of your event structure, document the events and options as free labels
  2. Replace the event structure with a stacked sequence structure
  3. Navigate to File»Save for Previous Version... to save the VI for version 8.5
  4. Open the VI in LabVIEW 8.5, then replace the stacked sequence structure with an event structure and manually reconfigure the events based on your comments.

Wow!!!! Who has time for this? 😮

(Was there ever an option to replace an event structure with a stacked sequence or vice versa? I canont find it in 2010 or 2011.)

There's never been an option to "Replace With" anything. Besides that, the replacement doesn't even make sense.

Well, we can still replace a case structure with a stacked sequence, which does not make a lot of sense either. 😉

So, if this was never allowed, I cannot see how the workaround should function at all?  Rewriting from scratch would be equally fast. 😮
