   about my icon.... (actually I don't know how "due di picche" is in english.... it's 2 of spades?!?!?)   in italy, when a girl refuses you... she's giving you a "2 di picche", is it so also outside Italy? I just wonder...

   Week-end is when you program microcontrollers, ore you're building your or someone else website, ore fixing your friend's PC....

Yes, "due di picche" corresponds to the 2 of spades, even though native Italian playing cards are different than English playing cards. I'm Italian somewhat (not born in Italy, but my parents were, and I lived there for about 4 1/2 years when I was young), and I never heard that phrase. Must be regional?

There're not spades, hearts, and so on, you have SPADE (blades), BASTONI (whoods), DENARI (money) and COPPE (cups). Strange, isn't that?!?!?

I meant that the "due di picche" corresponds to the English 2 of spades card, though it seems to be more of an "accepted" correspondence, rather than a literal one given that playing cards are indeed different (both in style and even deck count).

The Modiano cards were the ones my family used when playing Scopa and Briscola. Brings back some memories.

I am enjoying this thread quite a bit. I must admit that Altenbach's avatar certainly made it easier to pick him out of the crowd at NI week. Also, learning the story about Ben's icon was great - you can work with somebody for a year and still learn new things...

As to my Icon, it is a standard one, but one that I would certainly have chosen anyway. I am a comic book geek, and the Captain Marvel Symbology was too much to pass up. This is also why I used to have the Green Lantern Oath in my signature, until I realized it was a little to long for polite posting guidlines. Maybe on day I will design my own, I spend so much time at my drawing table anyway, I am sure I can come up with something...

But until then: Shazaam!

Of all of tst's icon's I hae to say that I liked "Lucy" of peanuts fame.

Since he was serving as my devils advocate  during that period, her catch phrase

was just too appropriate.
