Power Focus 6000 communication

Hi,

I''m having some trouble with certain functions on the torque controller driver. I'm able to establish communication and receive responses to some queries, such as the liist of available applications (which returns the application count that matches what I see on the controller), but other functions are returning errors. I'm unable to set an application, even though I can see it in the list, it returns an error that says the application cannot be set. Also I am unabble to retreive previous torque values, although manually I can see manny results in the reports on the controller. Is it possible I have missed a setting when getting the controller ready?

I also ran the example project vi and found the same problem, it runs ok until it gets to the setting application vi and has the error.

Thanks,

Philip.

Hi Philip, have you looked into whether the Power Focus 6000 is set up to accept changes to the applications through the Open Protocol?  There are sometimes things like that which prevent settings from being changed over Open Protocol.

Let me know if you can find that setting.  If I have time this afternoon I'll see what I can find on the Power Focus 6000.

Hi Philip,

I found a document that you might find helpful.  It talks about the two MIDs that you are having trouble with and might shed some light on how to use them.  I'll keep looking to see if I can find anything else that would be helpful.

Feel free to DM me with your contact information if you think it makes sense.  I'll still post the solution when we find it so others can benefit.

I might be able to help with setting the application ID.

In the Virtual Station you need to select the task that has all of the tightening sequences in it.

In my case with a single tool setup (non-sync mode) I have the Tightening Sequences (Application ID's) under Source Tightening.

Attached are a couple screen shots of my setup that I am able to select the Application ID's (2,4,8,9,10) the manufacturing engineer set up.

Now if you are using Batch sequences, I would think you would set it to a source under the other tab.

Note: The Task is different if you are using a multi-spindle via Sync on the 6000's or the new PF6 Flex systems. For these setups, I have used the Multi Spindle Tightening.

Hi, Thanks for that help, it has fixed the issues. I seemed to have the batch source and couldn't get that to work. Once I set it up as a application source the error went away.
