Error 200431

Hello,

I am attempting to make part of my Labview program take the inputs from a optical encoder so I can program dynamic responses to the positioning of this encoder. I've been attempting to use the example code "quadature encoder example", but I always get "Error-200431 occurred at DAQmx Create Channel (CI-Position-Angular Encoder).vi:1". I wanted to use this as a template, but I can't seem to fix this error.

I'm using an NI ELVIS and the HEDS-5600 Optical Encoder. Any assistance on this matter would be greatly appreciated.

I haven't opened up the optical encoder example, but my guess is that your hardware (NI Elvis) does not support it.

In the Example Finder, add your hardware in the lower left-hand corner.  Then filter by that hardware to view only examples that your hardware supports.  My guess is that if you select your NI Elvis, the encoder example will not show up.

Using this small trick can prevent confusion in the future.

NI ELVIS doesn't support this measurement type. Please refer to this link for further information.
