Hey
I am making a simple revcounter for a experiment setup. It consist of a photocensor (Omron EE-SX461 P11) and the NI 9401 in port 4 in a NI cDAQ 9174.
I am not sure how to wire the photosensor to the 9401. So far I have done it like the illustration (ill.png), but nothing is working.
The outputvoltage from the photosensor is approx 2,5V so it should be ok?

You need a pull up resistor. The output is an open collector transistor. Without a resistor there is no path for current to flow through the transistor. The Omron data sheet shows testing with a 47 kohm resistor. To get slightly faster switching for the digital iput to the counter I would probablay use a smaller resistor such as 1000 ohms.

Ok. I'm not familiar with how/where to mount the resistor, would you be so kind to explain/draw it for me

Connect the resistor from the output of the sensor to +5 V.
