Is there a way to duplicate the break point functionality of the PCI 7354 (or 7344) motion cards with the DAQMX counter using an M series or X series counter connected to a quadrature encoder? The ideal behavior is that I provide an array of encoder counts and when the encoder position matches the next array position, it creates a pulse which can be used to trigger data collection. I have done this in Labview but was wondering if it could be done more efficiently in hardware. Is there any way in hardware of checking if the encoder count equals a certain number and if it does firing off a pulse?

Hi Frank,

There are many ways to replicate that functionality in LabVIEW, including the one you have implemented, but no M series or X series DAQ card has a dedicated breakpoint output like the PCI 7354. If you have further questions, please reply with the details of your application and I will be happy to answer them.
