XLR8 error: writing in file with graph sheets

Hi,

I'm facing an issue with XLR8 toolkit.

I have a template file showing some graphs of measurements. I copy it to fill with corresponding data.

My customer has placed some full-screen graph first in the workbook ans spreadsheet for data at the end. In this case, when I fill the data sheets with data, the graph are not displayed anymore.

I tried to set sheet order to place the spreadsheet first but it doesn't work.

My workaround is to modify the template file by placing the data spreadsheets first. Then I only write data (Write Area.vi) in data spreadsheets. Graphs are filled and correct.

Hi Daniel,

a very peculiar problem that you describe here. Could be that the NPOI version on which XLR8 is build up to now is the reason for that.

Perhaps you can check again in the very near future. A new package - build on the latest NPOI release - is currently in review by the NI toolsnetwork and should be available with in a week or two for download.

I have installed the new release.

On the original xlsx file (unchanged from customer with full screen graphs first), it still didn't work.

On a copy, saved with LibreOffice (where graphs are displayed over cells, first), it looks ok.

PS: LibreOffice 7.06.2 did not manage full screen graph (don't find the option)

Hi Jens,

I can confirm that XLR8 still brake links in graphics, even with your latest version.

We have made the simpliest test files and it scatches with Excel 2013 standalone and Excel 365 online. (Opens correctly with OpenOffice)

My colleague confirms me that XLR8 or NPOI changes chart files, even when we don't interact with them.

Please find his short report (french, sorry)

The key is that if he places the original chart file in the new document, it works again.

Office 365 don't like the files and fires an error:

Could you say if it is an error from XLR8 or from NPOI (nissl) ?

My issue seems to be known in NPOI, close to be solved (last post 10 Oct '21): https://github.com/nissl-lab/npoi/issues/376 

They mention a workaround.

thank you for your patience, your research, and the link to the github ticket.

We will try to keep track with changes in the NPOI code from time to time and release a new version when we see substantial improvement in NPOI.

As my JKI VIPM request me to update XLR8 from 2021.8.0.1 to 2021.8.0.2, I have looked to the NPOI git link and it looks like they have solves the problem at the very end of 2022.

Could you check this merged issues https://github.com/nissl-lab/npoi/pull/945 ?
