Need to compare two X-Y plot to see whether one is crossing the other.

Hi,

I have 4 channels lets say X1, Y1, X2, Y2. Channel length for X1 and Y1 is 10, while for X2 and Y2 is 500.

I want to check whether the second XY plot crosses the first or not. Is there a method to do this?

Pls let me know if you have any queries.

Fazil Shah.

Hi faz,

The option that jumps to mind is to first linear map the 10 point data set onto the same X axis as the 500 point data set, then subtract one curve from the other.  If the resulting subtracted curve is all positive or all negative, then they never crossed.

Hi,

I hoped there would be an easier way than that. Would prefer not to create another channel for this purpose.

I was thinking if by some method I could check it and save the result in one of the properties of the second X-Y Plot. (result meaning whether it crosses or not)

Anyways... thanks for the reply.

Hi Faz,

I agree that storing the result in a property makes sense.  I think you're only option is to create a new channel for the calculation, but then you can remove the new channel and save the result to a property, leaving only the property in the end.
