SSI (synchronous serial interface) Bus Module or card

NI supports almost any bus.  Why not SSI (synchronous serial interface) ?  

Of course, there is always the option to use an R series card and then build an interface.  Why not have a low-cost PCI or USB card? Also, perhaps a C-series module, so that we don't have to take up FPGA space?

To implement an SSI master, you essentially just need a way to synchronize a digital input to an exported clock and chip-select line.  This shouldn't be too difficult to implement using an M/X series DAQ device (example here).  C Series modules that support clocked DIO can run the same DAQmx code if used in a cDAQ chassis.  This might not fit everybody's definition of "low cost" but it should be less expensive than the R Series/cRIO route.

Maybe it would be a good starting point for NI to simply provide a more formal SSI DAQmx example/library.

Even though I don't get commission, I would like to advertise Noffz' (German Platinum Alliance member) solution - It was designed to test SSI connected sensors: 

Noffz cRIO 4422 module - it supports differential RS-422 and more specifically SSI. From their web site: 

• 4-channel differential digital output
• 4-channel differential digital input
• RS422 common mode -7V to +12V
• Single ended TTL mode possible
• Input delay time 46ns typ.
• Output delay time 35ns typ.
